I agree with you that a better description of the differentiating factors
for the new list would be helpful. Though perhaps "less geeky" means more
design oriented. Though I'm a new member of this list, it does seem that
your original, self-proclaimed "'more geeky' web design list" is oriented
much more toward Web development. I think the most helpful list format would
have a balance of both design and implementation information. In regard to
any particular issue, professionals with user experience design expertise
could offer that viewpoint and those with Web development expertise could
offer implementation guidelines for suggested designs. Many people who
design interfaces don't know how to implement their more sophisticated
designs and many Web developers don't know how to design interfaces
properly. The more people in both specialties know about the other, the
better the world will be for us all and particularly for users.
