Depending upon the size of the project, my experience is that working in a
team tends to have better output - as long as the team is able to find
synergy at some point (pretty miserable when it doesn't). On the other hand,
I stay engaged in web development because I can generalize somewhat...
although I'd never call myself a graphic designer

I too joined this list (from thelist) because "[it's a] list that is more  
focused on the design aspects of webdesign." which I took to mean the  
visual elements, as that's the way "design" is normally used.

I hail from the developer end of the scale, but can handle graphic tools  
and hope that this list can bring some insight into how to get more  
"visual attractiveness" into my web design work.

I do, however, struggle with the common belief that its possible to  
separate visual design from website design and I don't think I'm alone in  
this.  This is a good article on that topic, maybe we could discuss it  
here and get a Webpro definition of "design":
