Do we think it's possible to possess *all* the skills required
for web
design? or should we specialise in either the sciences or the
arts and
	work in teams?

	what's your view?

I believe it is definitely possible. The best idea? I don't know. Easy?
Not at all.
I am who struggles for that balance. I am originally an artist. I was
raised and schooled as an artist and I'm (humbly) pretty good. Out of
necessity, I got into development a few years ago. I'm now a (humbly)
pretty good developer.

I think that possessing both sides allows me to be a good one man shop
and a better team leader. I can create usable, attractive design that
meets the needs of dev systems as well as develop all kinds of backend
systems that are intuitive and easy to use. And as a team leader, I know
the requirements, struggles and can appreciate the success of all sides
of the team.

Like Kath, I score in the middle of the right brain/left brain tests.
The skill lies in the ability to balance both mindsets, and to have the
time to develop both skill sets. I have to spend a lot of time reading
RFCs, whitesheets, APIs and such and then I still need time to work and
grow as an artist.

So as not to sound like a total snot, I'm not the best at either field.
But I feel that developing my skill both areas is a worthwhile personal
cause.

Oh, and Hello list.
