I do a bit of both, myself, but I find myself looking at some of the job ads and
wondering who exactly they find that can do all of that stuff *well*! I'm
inclined more toward the technical side, but I'm taking design classes (and
joining lists like this one) to get a better feel for the design part of the
"web design" job.
Robin Hastings - PHP, JavaScript, XHTML/HTML/CSS, Photoshop(?) and a smattering
of several other technologies.
