You'll need a printer with PostScript or PostScript
emulation to be able to print from the separations
directly.
I'm on a Mac, but Illustrator should have the same
options in PC:
Try the "Mode" options? You can choose either
composite or separations.
You can also choose which layers to print right in the
Print dialogue box - if you're silkscreening, this
might be an even better option than using the
separations.
There's also an overprint option in the Attributes
palette that can help with printing black so you don't
get too much ink gunked up on the shirts.
