Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you liked them. Feel free to copy the idea. Everyone that got a trivet really liked it, so I guess they make good gifts.
I created the pattern on the computer in "MS Word"
Printed it and glued it on the wood and carved away.

Great carvings. I especially like the Trivets, a very novel gift idea, how
do you create the scalloped pattern edge though, and keep it so uniform
looking?, and would you mind if I copied the idea for gift giving next year?
