[Woodcarver] What is relief carving?

Joe, Dave or whoever.....i think the definition in of gluing a carving on a
background, at least in the judging realm is referred to as "APPLIED
RELIEF"......applique is more used in the sewing rooms or decoupage
art.....hope all had a wonderful Christmas...now on to a fantastic first
