I just had to jump in 1 more time with another comment on relief carving.
We all know that Teri carves some wonderful Santas. So it is my guess that it is her way of helping to relieve pain and stress. Teri, your carvings are absolutely great, and I am glad to have met you here on this and some other lists. I wish to thank you and the other great carvers and wonderful people that I have had the priviledge of posting with and reading your's and theirs helpful comments and sugestions. I have been sitting here trying to picture in my mind a better way to be able to sit and carve and your helpful comments on the pillows to prop up my legs and carving in the recliner has had me thinking of a way to make a more comfortable carving station.

Since I have been unable to work since July due to the pain and swelling in my leg and the pain in my back, I have been able to find relief in carving. I can get envolved in the carving that my mind no longer reconizes the pain but is focused on the carving, whether it be a simple relief carving of a simple pattern 0n a piece of wood or carving a star for the christmas tree, or to carving a wood spirit on a walking stick, I find relief from the pain and the depression that accompanies it by carving something.

Since I cannot draw anything, I am running pictures and designs of a confortable carving station through my head. Once I have the design down in my head, i will make it. Even though I cannot draw, I can cut, saw, whittle, build, or what ever from a pattern or drawing. I saw a picture of a carving chair somewhere on the internet today. Although it would not work for me, it has me thinking of a way to make 1 similar to it and adapt it to my use.

So I like many others here spell
RELIEF --------------- CARVE
