[Woodcarver] North Carolina/Virginia Info, Please

I was so glad to read Steve's and others' praise of
North Carolina. My husband and I are traveling with
another couple to NC and Virgina early in October. I'm
hoping that if any List folks have suggestions of wood
or carving-related stops we should make they'll pass
them on (probably off-list directly to me might be
best, unless the List would benefit from the info.)

We're making a rather disconnected loop, flying into
Raleigh-Durham, renting a car, then heading to
Asheville, up the Blue Ridge Parkway, over to
Williamsburg, Charlottesville VA, then down to the
Outer Banks before heading back to California. Two
weeks.

Any suggestions? My feet are getting itchy.
