Hi Clive,
In addition to the Easley Vise, which I use on mostly smaller carvings, I
have a homemade face carving jig that I use all the time. You can see
several pictures of it along with the rest of my shop at:
http://www.wilkersonwoodcarving.com/myshop.htm . The most expensive part of
this jig is the large screw at the top with the handle. I think that a
couple of people have made one from just looking at mine. I don't have any
plans to provide for, I didn't make mine, I don't even know who did. I got
in a trade with a fellow woodcarver here in Branson about 8 years ago. But
the basic concept would probably not be too hard to adapt to your own needs,
nor too expensive. I think "Big Dog" sells the types of screws you would
need.

Hi all,
I just took a course in carving a face in a log, and now I am trying to come
up with ideas on how to make a jig to hold the log while carving. I know
Greg has the Easley carving vice, but it is a bit out of my price range at
the moment. So any ideas would be very gratefully received.
Thanks and take care,
Clive.
