never ending and hard to get off of once you got on. And we got lost a
couple of times so probably next trip! We did go see Reasons to Believe and
Terry Embrey's Santas in person!! What an experience that was! I even bought
one for my sister that collecter of Santas. Even as great as that was the
store itself is unbelieveable!!!! There were so many different kinds of and
decorated Santas. I just stood there drooling! The owner (I never did
clear my hearing to clearly hear his name) was a very kind and gracious man
that talked to my friend and me for several hours over 3 different visits
that day about all kinds of things. The differences in the Santas, some
background on the carvers/makers, how he does his own in clay! Wow! what a
marvelous, joyful display of creativitity in his scenes. That is probably
the best way to describe them - a scene not just a Santa. There were so many
things to see in each one - it took many several minutes to look at it for
the hidden treasures but then you looked again for the details. We did
discuss the possibility of all his details being in clay and then could it
be done in wood. He had suggestions on many different things. Some have
been discussed on this list and some my friend, her husband and I have
talked about. The hardest is to decide if you carve for your enjoyment, to
make money, to become "famous". That will certainly decide for you what you
do with it and perhaps even how "perfect" you create. The day we spent in
Kirkland was a nearly perfect day! There was so much to see in the quaint
shops throughout town but going back to the Reasons To Believe shop was the
best!! I hope we can go to Leavenworth next time!
Everyone that helped send me ideas to see sent us in the right direction!
Pike's Market was also marvelous fun! So much to see and such fun! I
thank each and every one of you for your help with my vacation!

Hi Merrilee - Glad you had a good time on your trip. Sorry I couldn't have
met up with you guys, but I've been "laid up" with mouth problems. The
store owner's name you met is Dennis - what a hoot, huh? He told me all about
your being there, and offering his sage advice to you. They are a great
couple of guys...and you're right, their shop is magical. I'm so glad you
found good inspiration there....I always do.

Glad you're back home safely. I'll be leaving in the morning to head east
to Ohio for my Angel's wedding.
