Hi all,
Thanks muchly for the many responses on my Red Oak problem. I learnt quite a
bit from you talented and wise folks.
I was asked by a contractor who is building a fireplace for a family to
carve these two pieces, they fit above the pillars on either side. They are
only 6x2 and have a circle scroll type of thing on them. Having never carved
Red Oak before I jumped in with both feet and it started splintering and I
panicked a bit thinking I was going to ruin buddys wood. - Live and learn I
guess.
So thanks for the many great responses, I appreciate them.
