[Woodcarver] Carving Redwood in the round

Hello All
My club has just been given a nice quantity of redwood . The wood comes from 
an old barn, so the wood is dry and well seasoned. Could you please comment on 
the pros and cons of carving this wood. Many of our carvers have just started 
carving and I wonder what kind of problems we will be facing. Since the wood 
is free and the majority of the members are retired and on a fixed budget, I'm 
sure they will want to jump at the chance.
