Hi Bing,
Yes, shellac can be the final finish, depending on the end use. Shellac is
not durable or scratch resistant so it will show wear easily. Bar tops,
floors and some functional carvings require a more durable finish than
shellac. However for most cases on carvings, shellac would be fine as a
final finish.
