Hi Barney,
As Vic says check all the tools in your checked luggage.
I'm told that it is a good idea when purchasing the ticket to tell them that
you'll be checking sharp woodcarving tools in your luggage. I also tell them
at check-in, that I have sharp woodcarving tools in that luggage. I have
done this with no problems.
It is also a good idea to insure your tools for the entire trip. I can add
an additional $1,000 coverage for very little extra cost of insurance. This
would help soften the blow if our prized set of tools gets lost during our
trip.
