I have seen several broken Flex Cut tools. The sharp portion is hard tool 
steel just like any other manufacturer. They are forged to a spring steel. The 
problem is it doesn't take too much grinding to loose the hard steel and get 
into the soft flex steel. And then it won't hold an edge.
