The best source for pre-drilled bottle stopper corks are the wood turning
suppliers. Try www.craftusa.com , buy the Flor cork for the best quality.
If you have a hard time finding them on their website, just do a keyword
search for cork. You can also find them at www.packardwoodworks.com , use
the same keyword search method to find the corks. And don't forget the 3/8"
dowels for attaching them to your carving. Hope this helps.

  Subject: [Woodcarver] cork for bottlestoppers

  Hi all,
Does anyone know what is the best cork for using with bottlestoppers? I
have tried a #RL 7 from Jelinek
( "Natural Tapered Corks. Top diameter = 13/16 inch, Length = 1 inch,
Bottom diameter = 5/8 inch" )
but they seem a little on the short side. Also, they are difficult to
drill a clean hole even with a brad tip bit.
  Any suggestions?
  thanks,
  Jimmy B.
