Dan, I'm sorry I have to contradict Doug Evans about the idea of
reservations for the Roundup in Michigan. No reservations are accecpted.
The fairgrounds are first come first served. I plan to get there on
Saturday the weekend before the roundup at the latest. A lot of carving
and comraderie occurs even before the roundup officially begins. The
campground fee for a trailer is $10 per night. I'm not sure if tenters
pay a smaller fee, but even at $10 a night, I think it is really
inexpensive. There is a small campground less than a mile away from the
fairgrounds that I believe will take reservations, but it is so much
nicer to be in the fairgrounds where all the action takes place.
Many list members are plannng to attend including Ol' Don, Sally and
David Nye, Sandy Holder (who is one of the chief organizers), Doug
Evans, Paul McClain, Joe Dillet. There is even a possibility that Bill
Judt will be there.
THe roundup is a wonderful opportunity to meet carvers, learn some new
techniques or styles of carving, and just having a great time. I teach
the entire time I'm there and often give special seminars in the evening.
Last year I even had some students before the roundup officially
started. You will have a great time and meet a bunch of great people
