Not a problem John, let me explain a bit better (I hope!)

the wood should be 3-4" long, and can in fact be L shaped so the inside edge of
the short leg of the L rides on the edge to be shaped, while the long inside
edge of the L rides on the top.  The cut in the L shaped piece of wood goes from
outside long edge of the L to inside long edge of the L and stops at the short
leg, spliting the long leg in half.

The cutting edge of the scraper is set in flush with the bottom of the cut, with
the wingnut/bolt clamping the two cut ends of the long edge of the L together to
grip the scraper blade.

In use, think of the L rotated so the short leg is down to your right (assuming
you are right handed) and the long edge of the L is now horizontal.  The blade
is inserted vertically in the L, with only the cutting edge showing in the
inside corner of the L.  Then you can scrape the wood until you get the shape
you want.  

I hope that clears it up!  If not, yell at me again, I know what I'm trying to
say, but the fingers aren't conveying it very well!! LOL!
