[Woodcarver] Spiral design help

Hello Listers,
Looking for help in drafting 3D spirals. I've been
asked to carve some conical-shaped shells that have
spiraling curves down their length. Can someone with
better drafting knowledge than mine tell me the
equation to use or where to find a tutorial for
drafting this shape? Thanks for any help you can give.
