Hello all,
A happy 4th to all Americans. Are we blessed or what?

Thanks so much for all your help on drafting
logarithmic spirals. Ignorance was bliss, but I knew
(even if the Lister who asked why we didn't just use a
pencil and block didn't) that there was a precision to
drafting these that I needed before tackling this
realistic carving. Some wrote to ask if what I needed
was to draft a volute, not a spiral, so for those who
want to know the difference in shape between a spiral
and a volute, and the mechanics of drafting each of
them, run to the library and get a copy of Mike
Burton's book, "Architectural Carving: Techniques for
Power and Hand Tools." Chapter 7 describes, in
layman's terms, how to draft many special shapes
carvers need.

I have noted, and will check out, all the sites and
instructions mailed to the List or to me directly. As
I've always said, all a List member has to do is ask
and the answers come rolling in. I appreciate you all.
Jean
