[Woodcarver] ??? on American Indians

Good morning Dave.
You're right- twisted would come undone but so would a braid.  Ususally you 
see something wrapped around the end of it - probably a leather strip?  But 
then how did that stay in place?  Boy this project is opening up so many 
other questions!  And its not even my project :).  Thank you for your help!
