I agree with the rest of the list Alan, don't give up.  I just finished 
making a knife out of a old straight razor, just made it for the fun of it and 
because I could.  I have made several others and they hold an edge real good, just 
use a strop from time to time and it will hold up well.  I'll send the last 
one to you, just send me your address to oregonkarver at aol.com.

This list has helped me a lot, my wife is disabled and they have given me the 
encouragement to continue to carve, I don't have time to join in on the 
exchange at this point in time, I carve small things like pins and small wood 
spirits, most are given to kids at a school I work at.  If you enjoy carving you 
will find a way to continue.  Send me your address and I'll finish the knife 
this weekend and you will be back on your way.
