Got mine from Big Dog several years ago. It takes a little adjusting to really get the value out of this tool. I started using it just to reach into deep, narrow areas. I bought the long handle and, af first, regretted it. I believe the shorter handle would work best under these circumstances. I will probably go ahead and get this version also.
However, I have now come to love the gonzalez and use it for many different things. I use it in relief carving for running along the edge of stop cuts. It's a lot easier to see what you are doing than using a flat gouge. A carving friend recently was watching me carve and said, "Do you ever use your knives anymore?"
As I said, it does take some care. The "hook" sticks a lot further above the shaft than it appears and will undercut real fast. But, I now find that it is among my most used tools. I have seen some similar tools but most do not have this long, pointed skew tip and that is what makes it most valuable.
