Hi there Richard
I would like to thank you for your kind offer. I have been really taken by surprise with all the offers of help that I am receiving from the list. A couple of you have offered various knives and I would like to accept your offer. I have had some bad times with people on another mailing list (totally different subject) and I was beginning to doubt people, since I have been disabled, I have lost just so many so-called friends because they can't "handle" my pain - I'm the poor bugger who has to live with it. My pain levels equate to a woman having a baby (not just the labour - the birth) or a kidney stone getting stuck. I have had four attacks today, each one reducing me to tears until the morphine kicked in. When I started reading all the replies, I just could not believe it (yours was the first I read - just the thought of someone donating something like that to me did again reduce me to tears), the last thing I expected was people to send me gifts like knives.
If there is ever anything that I can send you from Australia in return, I would be more than happy to assist, I can't afford much, but would try to get anything I can for you.
I like to carve creatures and people. If I can find the right size wood, I am dying to try a dinner plate with a meal on it as a centre piece for tables - using either different wood or stain to bring out each different part of the meal. I am especially into primates, I love monkeys and apes, my favourite is a small creature called a Tarsier, he is not very big (and because his eyes are so big, he can't move them, all Tarsiers, depending on species can swing their heads between 180 and 270 degrees), I have some life size pictures and would adore to carve life-size replicas of this very endangered critter and sell them, portions of the money to an organisation dedicated to saving this little creature. Your gift will especially enable me to carve for me sister something that I know she wants - a life size carving of her one of her cats - I will use mine as the model - she is single (43), a pain in the backside, doesn't believe I am disabled and because I take morphine, she considers me nothing more than a junkie! But for three years now, I have reduced her to tears at Christmas, see if I can make it four!
Again, thankyou so very much for your so very kind offer. I am not giving up, this has motivated me to try even more.
