Here's what I posted to the List. Thanks for asking. Big Dog will pay for
the shipping and yes the hole is 5/8 diameter.

Fellow Carvers,
I am putting together a cane or two for Marnie, to auction off at the
Woodcarving Festival in Faribault Minnesota August 21 and 22. I am
requesting that anyone who would like to help with this cane project may
send their segment to me before that date. I will make as many canes as I
get segments. If we have extra segments, that don't complete a cane, they
will be auctioned off separately at the same Woodcarving Festival.
I've just got done talking with Big Dog and he's got those 2 X 2 X 3-inch
basswood cane segments, predrilled with a 5/8-inch hole, for $1.50 each. He
said that he would cover the shipping. So if you don't want to make your own
just give Big Dog a call.
