    Greetings friendship cane makers

    I just put together 2 friendship canes for the MWCA Expo comming up this weekend.  I had to deal with making some block holes bigger to fit on the 5/8 dowel.  What I had trouble with was connecting 2 dowels together, end to end, strong enought to not break.  I drilled holes into the ends and inserted/glued a smaller dowel and this presented some issues with alignment that I had to fiddle with.  They wern't strong enough so  I ended up putting a metal sleve around the joint.  This worked but was too much trouble and I should have asked this question before I started.  How do you connect the 2 dowels?
