Thanks for info, Joe.    In addition, I visited with some younger carvers who expressed frustration in  that they were expected do either the traditional baroque-style religious carvings or the folk style "profane" carvings.  Those who wanted to do contemporary works or to develop new styles had no market to do so.  

I like it here in North America where we can do anything we want.  The only "hoop" you have to jump through is satisfying your customer.
