  Hi Brad, 

  The the only thing that will work is a marine finish and about 3-5 coats. This will protect the wood from the sun and moisture. You can purchase a product like this at a local home building center.

    I have A question about making an out door sighn. when finishing in order to protect it from outdoor elements, will several coating of linseed oil work?  I would appreciate any help you folks can give.
