Hi y'all,
The 2004 International Woodcarvers Congress is over and it was a raving
success!!!!!
There were 110 more carvings entered into competition than last year
bringing the total to just under 600 pieces. There were carvings from all
over the USA and Canada as well as the Netherlands, Australia, England and
Mongolia! We had two Peters from far away visiting the show. Peter Paces
from England and Peter Watson from Australia. Cash and product awards were
given out to the tune of over $18,000.
When people ask what is so special about the Congress, I guess one way to
answer it is to look at our banquet roster .... what other carving event
has the following carving notables at their Awards Dinner: Wayne Barton,
Dave Bennett (Flexcut Tools), Vicki & Phil Bishop (CCA), ol' Don Brugdorf,
Fred Cogelow, Janet Denton Cordell, Neil Z. Cox, Kirt & Linda Curtis, Ed
Gallenstein, Bob Guge, Marv Kaisersatt (CCA), Randy Landen (CCA), Wanda
Marsh, Pete Ortel (CCA), Harley Schmitgen (CCA), Elaine & Fred Stenman,
Dennis Thornton (CCA), Dean Troutman, Joe Wannamaker, Ivan Whillock, J.
Christopher White, Jack Williams (CCA), etc. etc. etc.
These are some of the "Who's Who" and "What's Happening" in the carving
world today. We are extremely proud and honored that they and so many
others take the time out to come and support the Congress.
