[Woodcarver]Jan's Monk - Finish

Hi Jan,
Love the monk.  How did you get around the fuzzies (grain raising) created by water based finishs?  Is that a spray finish?

  Finally got my major winterwork finished 
  It can be seen on my PT album 
  *Latest carvings*
  Monk is carved from baswood with a matte finnish 
  I might give him a coat of satin finnish yet  
  hopefully I'll do an other tall carving this spring
