Hi Emily,

As a person who sells tools and knows their value, I totally agree with Vic.

I think you did very well with your E-Bay purchase according to your descriptions.

But with many things on E-Bay .... it's "Buyer Beware" ... make sure of what you're getting.

Excellent stuff from England, these tools will outlive you if you treat them
well.

Sounds like the Henckel brand of cutlery. Makes some sense as Henckel is
German but I was not aware they made carving tools, perhaps not for export or
they got out of the business long time ago. If they are, they will be very good.

Yes, they were. was in the store once or twice, and have several favorite
chisels from them in my collection. Again, an excellent quality tool from my
viewpoint.

Pheil tools, carried exclusively by Woodcraft Supply here in the USA, other
countries have other suppliers, another very good tool.

Italy is well known for sculpturers rifflers, files that are shaped to finish
carvings in wood or stone. Quality can vary, but given the rest of the
collection, you probably have good tools there.

Sounds to me like you did VERY well! Old tools that are used and have survived
for a number of years means that someone cared for them because they respected
their tools and had bought good tools to start. 13 tools plus the rifflers and
mallets is a huge bargain, even if you need to add a replacement handle or have
an edge or two professionally reground and sharpened for you.

EBay is a hit or miss proposition, but you got a great buy I would guess.
Congratulations!

	Best wishes, Vic H
