Marc,

There were a publication of the National Woodcarving Museum (I think that was
the name) out just north of Colorado Springs. They were a valiant attempt to
create a museum for woodcarvers and carvings and published The Mallet for a
short while. Unfortunately they went out of business just around 89-90 and left
many folks with a bad taste for the whole idea. They had life memberships that
they sold, then came back to those same folks when they were desparate, and
asked for more. Many gave more, and the museum still folded, leaving folks
feeling bilked of a lot of money. I was by there a few months after closing,
and you couldn't have found a less likely place to trip over a museum for
carving if you weren't looking for it specifically. I am not surprised that it
went under.

Regardless of the museum's popularity, the Mallet offered some interesting
patterns and articles as I recall.
