I was very hesitant about ordering another sharpening "thingy" be it
a book, VHS, CD or whatever.
After spending over an hour looking at Everett Ellenwood's
Sharpening CD, I will have to say it is the best money I have spent on sharpening
information in a long, long time. He taught me some things I didn't know even
after being a competent sharpener for over 10 years. What I really enjoyed was
his explanation of why things were they way they were and how to correct
problems that you might encounter. The CD is crystal clear and very well done.
For any and all of you who have troubles/ questions about how to
sharpen correctly and enjoy your carving more, I would highly recommend Everett's
CD. For the whole $30 which includes shipping, I don't think I have ever felt
I received more value than I received from this CD. If you have any trouble
sharpening or questions about why you cannot get the degree of sharpness you
desire, I believe this CD will anwer those questions.
And what is really nice, he doesn't advocate any expensive
sharpening system, but shows you how to sharpen by hand with very little outlay for
equipment, if any, and you end up with as sharp a carving knife/blade/gouge as
you could ever want. I couldn't wait to get down to my shop and start going
thru my carving tools. Whoopee!
For those who might be interested and do not have his address, it is:
