Thanks Mr. Chopped. I didn't want to bother the "big guy" or admit to
the authority my ignorance. Although I don't relief carve(if you visit
Evart perhaps you could cure this disease), I use sanding sealer before
painting my carvings for a more even finish. I also use wax as a final
coat but do use a liquid wax vs. a paste.

After reading your article I was wondering the down side of the liquid
wax and if you see a paste wax working better for painted in the round
projects also.
