Lon,

Drive south from Rapid City and pass both Mt Rushmore (One heckuva carving
job!!) and then on past the monument to Crazy Horse, an even larger carving and
a work in progress!  On to Custer and the National woodcarving Musuem, just
outside of town.  I spent several pleasant hours there looking at the carvings
in the museum as well as the store there.  They have classes or you can just
bring a knife and chunk of wood and carve for a few hours with whomever is
already there.  It's a great place to visit!
