Mary
I have a Olympus D-490 Z (2.1 megapixel) that I use for the web shots and point and shoot. I also picked up a Olympus C-5060 earlier this year to be used on vacation.
The D490 does great, but if you are wanting to take fast pictures, it is not the camera. I took about 30 pictures of bubbles while trying to capture whales at Pt Roberts WA before I got the timing right.

There are several good website, Steve's Digicam,
www.Megapixel.net

I would advise going to http://209.196.177.41/contents.htm and check out the digital short course (free) to help.

Keep us posted
Lynn

Chris:

I also recently bought an Olympus C-5050. This is a very capable
camera, with excellent "glass", and it is as close to a pure digital
SLR as you can get without losing the "point and shoot" capability that
makes it easy to use. I am using this camera to do all the photography
for me upcoming fourth book, which I intend to be an eBook.

I recommend this camera highly.
