This is how I collect pictures or patterns fom the web using
Internet Explorer, and Windows XP (I use these because
I happen to have them - I am sure Netscape and other
Operating systems work).

I bring up the picture, or pattern,on the screen and put my mouse
cursor someplace in the picture (or pattern)

In my system a small panel with icons opens in the picture allowing me to
"save the picture, print the picture, email the picture, or open My picture
folder."

Ignoring the easy choices I right click on the mouse.
A panel opens up and I pick Save picture.
A new panel opens up suggesting a name for the saved picture
and a suggested location. I choose what ever seems appropriate.

The picture (or pattern) is saved as a .JPG file.

I then exit from the web, or e-zine and open up adobe Photoshop elements
(because it came with my computer -- there are lots of programs available)
and select the picture (or pattern). In the photo editing program I adjust
the
size to whatever physical size I want to carve.

Good luck,
