I agree with carol said below we are all not
professional woodcarvers,n we are always learning even
the professional ones still learn something new, I
myslef have been carving no more then 5 years. Which I
have copied and keep below for u to all to see..

"Maricha - Please do not become a lurker. I don't
know why anyone would have been offended by your
question. I always read and appreciate your posts.
You
are an excellent carver and we all have a lot to
learn from you. I have no idea what someone might
have said to you to make you feel shattered. But,
don't allow them to quiet you! Keep up the good work
and please keep posting. Carol "

I do not know how many of u are out there that got
into carving as a hobby, un like most people do I got
into carving because I was what one would call a
workaholic, I had done the followin all at the same
time which is waiter, bartender, bus boys supervisor,
Real Estate Broker, sub teaching for the hillsborough
county school system here in the tampa bay area, plus
goin to college as well and even dating.. Most of you
will think this was a cuase of a heart attack,
however: it was not while workin a private ladies
inter club golf tournment, carring a ice tea container
I was opening the door and my great toe on my right
foot got caught under the door jam which smashed it
to it looked as if it was chop liver, nail was in
millions of peices in in bedded into my toe, took two
hours to get them out..

Little does anyone ever think that this would cause
one to become totally disabled, however; there is a
condition called RSD (Reflex Sympathic Distrophy),
which one can get from a small sprain or even an
operation. So was I was getting really depressed from
not working and really wanting to my mom saw someone
at a craft store and she had knew I was interested in
it, since I have gone to many of the places which had
woodcarvings in them in the ocean city maryland, even
to the wards museum... On my way back home to florida,
I saw a place called stoney point decoy and made my
mom stop in and I went to town looking at all the
blanks, and started that day on woodcarving, still
have the first decoys I tried to carve boy do they
look bad not even what a duck should look like..

I have grown in my work which now u can tell what the
objest is and I have won awards for them...

Bill
