[Woodcarver] Softwood or Hardwood

I understand that trees that drop their leaves are hardwood.  trees that 
don't are softwood.  I don't know where I learned that but it's in my brain, right 
or wrong.  though when discussing woods with other carvers, soft wood means 
less resins in the wood making it easier to carve, while hard wood is something 
you can break a tool carving.
