My favorite woods all seem hard with dull tools, or soft with sharps.
Favorite woods for carving are: Catalpa (Catawba in South) for horses,
cowboy and Indian busts, American Linden (Basswood) for anything I can
carve, Butternut for love spoons, Red Cedar for Indian and Mountain Man
Busts, White Pine for less detailed Santas and small figures, air dried or
kiln dried. Old Joe
