[Woodcarver] WALKING STICK QUESTION?

Birch is a good strong wood for a stick, and diameter around 1 inch is  good.
 
Now, are you making a walking stick or a cane?  Some folks call a cane  a 
walking stick, and call a walking stick a hiking staff.
 
If your making a cane with a separate handle, use a threaded rod 1/2 thick  
to join the hadle to the shaft with epoxy.
