Hello,
Thanks so much Bill, Vic, and Larry for your guidance
on cutting the (total) 60 degree angle I needed.
Wouldn't you know that I couldn't open my Yahoo email
this morning for a few hours, (server problems) so I
drove to a guy who has made and sold unfinished
furniture for 40 years in a shop downtown. You were
right, I needed 30 degrees on the long side of each
board to they would meet in a 60 degree angle, but I
wasn't standing the board up on end for the cut (as
one of you brilliantly pointed out) in my bandsaw. The
furniture-maker did exactly what you suggested--tilted
his table saw blade 30 degrees and made the perfect
mitered joint for me in less than a minute. Bottom
line, I was cutting the boards at the wrong angle
across the 3/4" thickness. I'm sure this is only the
first of many such questions over the years so stay
tuned (and thanks for being there.)
Jean
