Maricha,
Read your marvelous snippet on helping your student with the height issue. Well I for one with my disabilities, use a number of devices to make up for both height and endurance issues. For low work I use a Sears mechanics chair - its got wheels. and for the middle stuff I use a bar stool with out back - no wheels to high and dangerous, do consider using a parachute though. use a modified bench for some of my projects... I built sleeves to fit the core legs of the base the sleeves are mounted to the table and fit over the legs of the base. the sleeves and the legs are drilled to allow pins for adjustment to various heights. The system is great when I have a bad day and can not stand for extended periods. Also is great for the odd piece that just does not fit anywhere else.

So there my secret is out... on good days I stand on bad days I sit on other days I bounce when I cant make up my mind... Hope the members can glean a few ideas from this.

Be well
Ed

one of my students is very short in stature, and i placed myself in her shoes, and realized how difficult it was for her to reach out and carve .... so my delightful husband made a box to stand on ... she feels on top of the world, she is very artistic and is doing wonders.....

any comments on how the list members feel about the right height for carving whilst standing or sitting, would be much appreciated.

  best wishes
