Hi Maricha,

We have students that have difficulty slicing the feathers due to their
height.  Because we place the wood in a vise and slice down from the
top, it adds even more height to the project.  (You can see this on our
site under "tools" with the 3-inch drawknife.)  We have added the
Jerry-Rig to our line (not shown) which allows for a second position.
The vise has 2 pieces:  One for top of the table working; the other
position for a lower, side of the table position.  It also has
attachments for plates, screws, etc.  Most folks like it very much,
whether taller or shorter.  They also offer a craving arm which can go
as low as you like. (I can put you in touch with Jerry-Rig off list if
you like.)

It's so nice that you're working with your student to bypass this
situation.
