when i considered buying a dremel, I went to my local sears. there i found a
craftsman rotary tool for less then 2/3 price of dremel. it takes all the
dremel accessories. I bought a flexshaft and hung it from my ceiling. it goes
up to 35,000 rpms, variable speed. I have been using the same tool for 2+ years
now, have never lubricated anything. I do carving and sanding with it. It
gets good use, at least 10 to 20 hours a week. I considered buying a foredom
or other like brand but I figured that for the price i paid for my tool, I
would use it till it went then get another. It gives no indication of going
anytime soon.

Woodburners are quite another story. i only burn on occassion and only have
a cheap pen type with about 8 different screw on tips. It works fine but I
dream about getting a decent system for fine detail work.
