Hi Maura,
A few years ago my 3 sons asked what I wanted for my birthday and I told
them 'A Dremel'. The
one I had was over 20 years old and was getting worn-out. My birthday came &
no Dremel, so I bought one. Father's Day (two weeks after my birthday) I
received three Dremels.
Dremels have a 5 year guarentee & all you have to do is return it to them &
they'll replace it,
free of charge. The Sear's rotary tool is made by Dremel.
The major problem that I have had with them is the switch. I've returned
most of them for faulty/broken switiches. The variable speed models switch
goes more often than the single speed.
I set the variable speed on on 'high' & use a foot control. If you monitor
the length of the brushes
& replace them, when worn, they should last a long time. I've never had a
problem with the flexible
shaft.
