Mornin' Maura,

Down towards the bottom (one on each side) you'll find a round 'thingie'
with a screw
slot in it. Using a small screwdiver (or the other end of the wrench that
came with the tool)
Slowly unscrew it (it's spring loaded), you'll find a spring that attaches
to the top on one end
& the brush on the other end. If the brush is shorter (where it sticks out
of the spring) than about 1/8 inch, it needs replacement.
Any store that sells Dremel, will have replacement brushes. Along with
their assortment of cutters, etc. Ace Hardware is one store that carries
them. Since yours is a Sears, they may have replacement
brushes also. The replacement kit contains two brushes, replace both of
them, even though just one may be worn.
Hope this helps.
