All,
Thanks to all that commented on recommended brands of carving tools. I
think that I deflected from the real questions I was thinking of by
mentioning a specific brand.
>From the carving sites that I have visited, I've seen several philosophies
on what a tool set should contain. One camp recommends something like an 8
piece set with 5 different sweeps, a skew and V tool in it while others
recommend sets with 2 or 3 sweeps in a wider range of sizes plus a skew and
V tool. I can see advantages to both. As a beginner, I'd like to buy the
minimum number of the best tools I could afford to get me started and add as
my needs arise.
And I've come across many different ideas on sharpening and know that I'll
have to find something that fits me. How do I overcome V tool sharpening
phobia?
