You're very welcome Merrilee <G>.
I consider Elmer as one of my bonuses from volunteering at Honesdale. He
had been to several of our MVAWA shows prior to that, but I hadn't gotten a
chance know or chat with him at the woodcarving shows like you could at the
NEWR. He had an unscheduled class Tuesday night of the first Honesdale
Roundup and I was taking a teaching break (Lucky for me). He was carving
a... well... um... it was more irreverent than a privy Christmas ornament,
and we'll leave it at that. Anyway, there were only a couple of students,
so we had large amounts of conversation interrupted occasionally by
instruction when necessary. I nice relaxed evening, and eventually the
conversation winds around to Elmer's experiences in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli a
woodcarving community in Quebec. By the end of the evening, Elmer had
painted such a verbal image of this place that it was on the top of my list
of woodcarving experiences that needed done, and done soon. Yep, just a wee
bit of a contrast to our "project" ;-).
This year his projects were a clown and a caricature vulture... seems he
toned 'em down some. I was busy with adventures in chip carving this year
and didn't get a chance to sit at his table, but the woodcarving clan he
travels with is parked right next to Harold's site so we still got a chance
to talk.
BTW, my personal NEWR "bonus" list is a very loooong one which includes "The
Hat Lady", and Sally & David, and Maura, and Chris Howard, and Hugh, and
Sandie, and Sandy, and............. well I'm way past my prolixity quotient,
so we can't do the whole list here <BG>.
Keep on Carvin'
